The easiest way home
Congratulations on your new Summit Tractor. The easiest and most affordable way to get your tractor from the store to your property is a local rollback (tilt-deck) tow truck — the same type of truck used to haul cars. The bed tilts to ground level so your tractor simply drives on and drives off. No ramps, forklifts, or special equipment needed at your home.
Most Economical Approach
Have the tractor transported via rollback, and pick up your attachments yourself. The store can load palletized attachments (200–650 lbs) into your pickup truck or trailer with their forklift. This eliminates any additional delivery cost for attachments. If you have attachments that won’t fit in your vehicle, 1–2 pallets can ride on the rollback with the tractor at little or no extra cost.
Rollback truck & tractor specs
Two common scenarios
Scenario A — Tractor Only
The simplest option: have the rollback deliver the tractor to your property, and you handle the attachments yourself or skip the attachments entirely.
- Search for “rollback tow truck” or “flatbed tow truck” near the store.
- Provide your tractor’s weight and dimensions (see specs above).
- Schedule pickup at the retail store.
- Driver loads your tractor at the store, delivers and unloads at your property.
Typical cost: $100 – $215 for a 5–15 mile delivery.
Scenario B — Tractor + Attachments
Most economical approach: rollback for the tractor + self-pickup for attachments.
- Tractor goes on the rollback tow truck.
- You pick up attachments yourself — the store loads them into your vehicle with a forklift.
If you can’t pick up attachments:
- 1–2 pallets can ride on the rollback with the tractor.
- 3 or more pallets: rollback for the tractor + store delivery for the remaining pallets.
Typical cost: $100 – $450 for tractor transport only if you self-pickup attachments.
How rollback delivery works
What to say when you call the tow company
Keep this script handy. It tells the dispatcher exactly what they need to give you an accurate quote:
“I need a rollback or flatbed tow truck to transport a new compact tractor from [store name] to my property, about [X] miles away. The tractor weighs [3,600 / 4,200] pounds and is [12.7 / 14.8] feet long. It’s fully operational and will drive on and off the bed. Can you give me a quote?”
Have your own trailer? Self-transport requirements
If you own a properly rated utility trailer, you can haul your tractor yourself. Both trailer sizes require dual axle with brakes on both axles and ramps for drive-on / drive-off.
- GVWR: 7,000 lbs
- Mfr. Rated Payload: ~5,000 lbs
- Tow Vehicle: ¾-ton pickup truck
- GVWR: 9,990 lbs
- Mfr. Rated Payload: ~7,000 lbs
- Tow Vehicle: ¾-ton or 1-ton pickup truck
Important — Do Not Use Light-Duty Rental Trailers
Store rental trailers (2,250 lb capacity) are NOT suitable for Summit Tractors. Your tractor exceeds their weight rating.
